Domaine du Vissoux : June 2012

25 June 2012

The months of May and June were particularly hot and wet which allowed the vines to grow well. The flower has passed and we can expect a drier summer.

Budding is over. This operation consits in removing the unwanted buds on each vine to make pruning easier next winter. It also helps limit the number of bunches of grapes produced, allowing a concentration of flavours and aromas in the grapes that do grow. Currently we are tying up the vines : the wires are raised and tyed up so that the vines grow tall. Tillage continues: the earth is shallow ploughed mechanically between rows.

If you want to know more about those works you can see the video of june of last year :

Meanwhile at the estate, we perform the bottling of the wines of spring. Here on the picture, this is the bottling of Beaujolais les Griottes, with a little nod to our Japanese friends. Today all the cherries have been picked.
